Facebook Social Marketing

Why do I need Facebook?

There are over 9 million Facebook users in Australia alone and the average length of time each Facebook user spends on the site per day is 50 minutes. It is the largest networking site and is growing larger by the hour.

  • Your friends are on Facebook, but not only your friends.
  • Your customers are on Facebook.
  • Your business associates are on Facebook.
  • Your competitors are on Facebook.

Which means you need to be there too!

If you don’t think YOU need Facebook Social Marketing – watch the video below and think again!

Can You See Why YOU Need to Get Social?

How to use Facebook

Firstly, set up a personal profile. People like to know there’s a real person behind the business they’re dealing with and this is a good way for you to interact with them. How much personal information they get to know about you is determined by your privacy settings.

For your business, setting up a Facebook Page is a good second step. Pages allow businesses and individuals to collect details of visitors who ‘like’ your page and as well as the usual tabs of profile, wall, photos and info, you can have a welcome page for them to land on first.

They used to be called Fan Pages – now they’re just Facebook Pages, so if you’ve heard of fan pages, they’re the same thing. There were around one and a half million fan pages before the change of name about 6 months ago.

Now there are over 2 million Facebook Pages worldwide. Facebook is a social site and it pays to remember that. You should use Facebook Social Marketing to become known and build relationships with customers and potential customers.

Don’t bombard them with consistent sales pitches – they don’t work in this environment and usually alienate people.

Instead, post news relevant to your business and things of interest plus free information. People love freebies and will grow to know and trust you.

Any events can be posted as well and attendance invited. It’s all about being active and posting regularly to keep your page fresh and interesting.

Your Facebook Page also links back to your website, whereas your profile page doesn’t, so it becomes another part of your SEO.
